RA is a multi-disciplinary design firm providing architecture and engineering services for a wide range of Federal, State, County, City and Public Works projects throughout California. RA has specialized in Design-Build collaboration since the founding of our firm. Our firm currently has two offices in Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo, California.

Job Summary
A full-time position is available for Senior Architect. RA is seeking a person(s) to blend their talents and architectural expertise with our team of architects, engineers and partner contractors. A Senior Architect will blend design and construction teams, develop design-build basis for design, oversee design-build proposals, and manage construction in collaboration with a design-build contractor. Project involvement is from proposal preparation and design to construction completion. Design-build projects include Federal, County and K-12 clients.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • In a supervisory capacity, is responsible for the design and technical accuracy of large projects
  • Responsible for major design decisions
  • Manage communication, relationships and expectations of work with all members of the design team, contractor, and clients
  • Handle significant project challenges requiring new approaches and guidelines
  • May supervise and/or perform site observations
  • Maintain and organize project files
  • Travel to and from project and client meetings as required

Job Requirements and Essential Skills

  • Licensed Architect
  • Minimum education requirement of a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture
  • Minimum of eight years of professional experience
  • Construction experience/and or experience in collaborating with contractors in a design-build relationship
  • Leadership, time management and customer service orientation
